Press kit for DeskVNC
DeskVNC is a native desktop client for VNC, RDP and SSH, written in Rust on Tauri 2, and it runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. A journalist covering developer tools, MCP, or remote desktop should care because DeskVNC ships an MCP server named dvv with 25 tools that lets an AI agent drive saved machines over the ordinary protocols, with nothing installed on the remote, and a person can take control back at any moment. This page bundles the verified facts, approved pull quotes, screenshots, logo and contact details a writer needs to cover the project accurately.
The product, in one paragraph
DeskVNC is one window for every machine you look after, whether that machine speaks VNC, RDP or SSH. The native client is written in Rust on Tauri 2, ships for Windows, macOS and Linux, and is dual licensed under MIT OR Apache-2.0. The protocol cores are written from scratch rather than wrapping another library, secrets live in the operating system keychain, and credentials never cross to a database next to the profiles. On top of the ordinary client, DeskVNC ships an MCP server named dvv that exposes 25 tools to an AI agent: it opens one of your saved machines, observes the screen, sends clicks and keystrokes, and a person on the remote desktop can take the wheel back at any moment without ending the session.
Three approved pull quotes
One window for every machine you look after, whether it speaks VNC, RDP or SSH. Native, written in Rust on Tauri 2, and it runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.
The funded tools that let an agent use a Windows desktop all install an agent on that desktop, which is refused on Citrix, on VDI, on jump hosts and on anything a client owns. A protocol those machines already speak gets in anyway.
It is quick enough to sit inside a loop. Measured against a real 1920x1080 Windows desktop on a LAN:
dvv_openin 4 ms,dvv_controlacquire under 1 ms,dvv_screenat scale 0.25 in 25 ms, and a full observe-then-act cycle in 19 ms (about 52 actions per second).
Five verified numbers, with their measurement point
| Figure | Call | Measurement point |
|---|---|---|
| 19 ms | full observe-then-act cycle | One read of the screen at scale 0.25 followed by one click on the same machine, on a 1920x1080 Windows desktop on a LAN. |
| 4 ms | dvv_open |
Open a saved host and attach the mirror when perceive: true is passed. |
| Under 1 ms | dvv_control acquire |
Take the lease on a single limb. Returns the lease holder at once. |
| 25 ms | dvv_screen |
Read the full screen at scale 0.25 on a 1920x1080 Windows desktop on a LAN. |
| 447 characters per second | dvv_type |
Sustained keystroke delivery against the same Windows desktop over LAN. |

Five screenshots
| Image | Subject |
|---|---|
| /img/hero.jpg | The host library overview, with live thumbnails of every saved machine on the operator’s desk. |
| /img/library.jpg | The saved host library at full size, showing names, addresses and last-seen thumbnails side by side. |
| /img/session.jpg | A live VNC session with the floating toolbar, showing the measured round trip time and active controls. |
| /img/split.jpg | Two desktops side by side in one window: a Linux GNOME box and a Linux KDE box under independent protocols. |
| /img/agent.jpg | An agent holding the wheel on two machines at once, with the human-takeback control visible on each pane. |
All five images are built from a real DeskVNCViewer run against demo servers on loopback. The machines in them are invented, and the desktops being viewed are credited in the project repository.
Logo and colour palette
The logomark is a screen shell holding a spine, with a forward chevron leaving through the open edge. The canonical asset is /img/logo.svg, rendered as inline SVG so it scales cleanly at any size and recolours to the dark theme automatically.

Three ready to post lines for social media
- One client for every machine you look after: VNC, RDP and SSH in one window, with an MCP server named dvv that lets an AI agent drive the same connections while a person can take the wheel back.
- DeskVNC agents on a real 1920x1080 Windows desktop over LAN: dvv_open in 4 ms, dvv_control acquire under 1 ms, dvv_screen at scale 0.25 in 25 ms, dvv_type at 447 characters per second. Full observe-then-act loop in 19 ms.
- Built in Rust on Tauri 2, dual licensed MIT OR Apache-2.0, signed on macOS and Windows. Ten machines are ten independent dvv_ loops because every machine is its own limb with its own lease.
